Here are answers to common questions about Happie Camp.

What safety rules are in place?

We keep the site as natural as possible, so please watch your step. Nature can be unpredictable—you might trip over a branch or slip on a rock.

We recommend sturdy shoes and water shoes for swimming.

Each tent has a basic first aid kit, but guests stay at their own risk.

What responsibilities do guests have?

  • Carefully review your booking confirmation and ensure all details are correct. Contact us if any changes are needed.

  • If anything on site doesn't meet expectations or is missing, please contact us immediately so we can address it promptly.

  • We ask guests to dispose of trash and wash dishes before leaving Happie Camp.

Does the right of public access apply?

YES. Simply put, it means showing respect by not disturbing or damaging nature.

  • Stick to marked paths only.

  • Do not remove moss from rocks or break branches from trees.

  • Light fires only in designated areas and observe the fire ban. Use only the firewood provided by Happie Camp. Pine cones and small sticks from the ground can be burned, but not branches or bark from living trees, nor fallen trees.

What are the check-in and check-out times?

Check-in is at 4 PM,
and check-out is at 11 AM.

Do you offer gift cards?

Yes, you can purchase gift cards here. They are valid for one year from the date of purchase.

Is there Wi-Fi?

There is no Wi-Fi on site, but mobile coverage is good.

How do I get to Happie Camp?

A week before arrival, you'll receive an email with GPS coordinates. Happie Camp doesn't have a street address.
Transportation to Happie Camp is not included.

Can I fish there?

Happie Camp is located by Lake Vänern, where no fishing license is required.
Please bring your own fishing gear.

Is there electricity?

No, there is no electricity on site, so no refrigerators either. Each guest receives a charged power bank to use for charging the tent lights.

Is Happie Camp accessible?

Happie Camp is not suitable for physical disabilities. It's not ideal for wheelchair or walker users due to uneven terrain and elevation changes.

However, it's a wonderful retreat for many with mental health challenges. Numerous guests with mental health issues and neurodiverse conditions have shared how beneficial the time in nature has been for them.

Is there drinking water?

There is no running water. In the food house, you'll find containers with drinking water for cooking. Use this water for washing dishes and cleaning, but please conserve drinking water. We encourage using lake water for washing and cleaning.

What is the forest glamping kit?

This is an optional add-on to your booking with delightful products to make your stay even better.

  • 2 pairs of wool slippers from Wollpower

  • Shampoo and soap for outdoor use from Sjö&Hav

  • Mosquito spray from Sjö&Hav



What clothing should I bring?

We recommend checking the weather forecast for your stay and packing accordingly.

Bring sturdy shoes for walking in the forest, a warm sweater for evenings, and swimwear. A pair of easy-to-slip-on shoes like Crocs is handy for the beach.

For sleeping, we suggest thermal underwear and wool socks early and late in the season.

What's inside the tent?

- Two beds with merino wool bedding (mattress pad, duvet & pillow) and extra blankets. Sheets and towels are provided.
- Lights powered by a rechargeable power bank
- Sheepskin rugs and floor mats
- 2 camping chairs and a small table
- A candle holder with 9 tealights (bring your own if you plan to use them a lot)
- Trash bin and brush
- First aid kit with fire extinguisher & fire blanket.

How are the toilets arranged?

- There are 4 toilets serving 6 tents: 2 near the food house/fireplace and 2 closer to the beach.
- These are composting toilets where you add peat/pellets after use. They are emptied regularly. Toilet paper and hand sanitizer are available on site.

Please only flush toilet paper. We compost the waste over 1-2 years and use it as fertilizer in newly planted forests.

What's in the kitchen?

Bring your own food or purchase meals from us.
Note: there are no refrigeration facilities.

Each tent has access to the food house with:
- A gas stove with 2 burners and gas
- 2 pots, a frying pan, grill pan, and French press coffee pot
- Plates, bowls, knives, forks, spoons, glasses, and mugs for 2 people
- Cheese slicer, potato peeler, wooden spoon, sieve, tea strainer, can opener, measuring cups, kitchen knives, corkscrew, spatula, cutting board, serving bowls
- Wooden storage boxes
- A thermos for hot water
- Dish soap from Sjö&Hav, dish brush, dishcloth & towel.

Please note: no grill racks are provided.

What are the change and cancellation policies?

Date changes

  • Up to 14 days before arrival - 300 SEK per change.

  • From 13 to 2 days before arrival - 1000 SEK per change.

  • Less than 2 days before arrival - full amount is forfeited.

Name changes on the booking are always free.

Cancellations

  • Free cancellation up to 40 days before arrival.

  • 39 to 14 days before arrival - 50% charge.

  • Less than 13 days before arrival - 100% charge.



What are the rules with cancellation protection?

Cancellation protection costs 400 SEK per booking and must be purchased when booking.

Cancellation protection is valid until 3 PM the day before arrival.

Date changes

  • Up to 14 days before arrival - no charge.

  • From 13 to 1 day before arrival - 300 SEK per change.

  • After 3 PM the day before arrival, date changes are not possible.

Name changes on the booking are always free.

Cancellations

  • Up to 14 days before arrival - only the cost of the cancellation protection (400 SEK).

  • 13 to 1 days before arrival - 500 SEK plus the cancellation protection fee. Total 900 SEK.

  • After 3 PM the day before arrival - 100% charge.
